Our sacrificial giving programs account for about two-thirds of our annual operating revenue. The basic concept of sacrificial commitments is as follows: Abortion is, objectively, one of the most selfish actions on earth. (Understanding, of course, that some of the people involved may not be very culpable, because of the pressure they are under.) To counter this selfishness, we need to atone for this sin through heroic sacrifice. If we "give until it hurts," the benefit derived is not just practical (i.e., the value of the money or time sacrificed), but also deeply spiritual, releasing the grace needed to effectively fight abortion. Further, if we consecrate our efforts "to Jesus through Mary," according to St. Louis Marie de Montfort, as our Holy Father has done, we further multiply the graces bestowed through the intercession of the Mother of God.
Most people in our sacrificial giving societies - the Lifesavers' Circle, the Maximilian Kolbe Society and the Mother Teresa Society are really stretching to give at these levels, but the effects of their sacrifices are extraordinary. Members of our Legacy Society leave gifts that keep on giving the gift of life, after themselves have passed on to eternity.
Of course, donations in any amount are encouraged and deeply appreciated. To donate, make your check payable to The Women's Center and mail it to 5116 North Cicero Avenue - Chicago, IL 60630.
